Drive1 Claims

When something breaks, the next step should be clear.

A mechanical breakdown is stressful enough. The claims process shouldn't add more uncertainty.

If your covered vehicle has a mechanical problem, follow these steps before repair work begins.

Before covered repairs begin: Have the repair facility contact Drive1 for prior authorization, except where your agreement specifically provides otherwise.
The claims process

Three steps to get the claim moving.

The goal is simple: protect the vehicle, get a diagnosis and make sure authorization happens before covered repair work begins.

Protect the vehicle

If continuing to drive could cause more damage, stop and take reasonable steps to protect the vehicle. Use eligible roadside assistance when applicable.

Choose a licensed repair facility

Take the vehicle to a licensed repair facility of your choice so the issue can be properly diagnosed.

Get prior authorization

Before covered repairs begin, have the repair facility contact Drive1 so the issue can be reviewed and authorized according to the agreement.

The key rule: Prior authorization is required before covered repair work begins, unless your specific agreement says otherwise.
What happens after the shop calls

The repair facility and Drive1 handle the claim review together.

The key requirement is simple: don't authorize covered repair work first and ask Drive1 afterward. Let the repair facility contact Drive1 before work begins.

Diagnosis

The repair facility identifies the problem and provides the information needed for review.
